Biomass
Biomass is organic material from plants or manure. Just like oil, coal and gas, biomass can be converted to heat and electricity. In contrast to these fossil fuels, due to growing and new plantings, plants and trees take as much CO2 from the air as is emitted during combustion. Therefore, biomass is considered a renewable energy source.
Biomass from forestry, farming residues or energy crop farming or biogas from sewage treatment can be refined or converted directly to heat and electricity.
