The peak capacity of the farm will be
500 MW. The farm will be situated 100 kilometres northeast of Los
Angeles. The project will consist of thousands of solar mirrors
concentrating sunlight onto a Stirling
engine. Stirling claims that the efficiency per m2 is far better
than that of photovoltaic systems.
The project, which might
be expanded to 850 MW, is now waiting for approval by the California
Public Utilities Commission.
