Electrabel builds biomass
plant
In Flemalle near Liège, power
producer Electrabel converted part of an old coal plant into a 80
MW biomass plant. The plant uses 1200 tonnes of wood chips a day.
The plant provides a yearly amount of 400,000 green certificates
of each 1 MWh produced for the Belgian market.
To the stock market
Following the example of
several renewable energy companies in Germany , also companies in
Belgium are now applying for stock market quotations. Next week,
Belgian energy and transport company Reibel will sell 133,000 shares.
At the present value of about € 4 per share, Reibel will get about
half a million from the market. Its daughter Belpower, sells solar
power systems and wind turbines. Reibel expects a boost in the RE
market in Belgium because of new tariffs for green certificates
as of the 1st of January. It claims to have an exclusive contract
with Solarpower for the delivery of 2 MW of PV panels per year.
