Delhaize biggest Belgian green power user in Top 25
The GreenPrices Top 25 list of large users of green power has changed. The Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize takes first place on the Belgian list and seventh place on the international list with a green power use of 245,000 MWh per year.

Delhaize uses AlpEnergie, which is 100% certified renewable energy supplied by Electrabel. The electricity is generated in 19 hydropower stations owned by the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône in the French Alps. The independent agency TŰV guarantees (with certificates) to Delhaize that the power they buy is renewable.

The biggest user on the international list is still the Austrian Federal Railways, ÖBB, with an annual use of 1,536,000 MWh, followed by Swedish Railways with an annual use of 1,500,000 MWh. Third on the GreenPrices Top 25 list is British Telecom with an annual use of 1,000,000 MWh.
