EU taxation info online
11 May 2007 -  Today the European Commission launched an information tool for citizens and business ‘Taxes in Europe’. The online database provides information on around 500 taxes in force in the Member States, such as environmental and energy taxes. In addition, it gives information on the revenue generated by each tax. Access is free for all users.

The database is the product of a collaboration between the Commission and the Ministries of Finance from the Member States. It contains, for each individual tax, information on its legal basis, assessment base, main exemptions, applicable rate(s), economic and statistical classification, as well as the revenue generated. The information is listed in the form of a downloadable file. Customs duties and tariffs are not described in the new database, these are provided via the TARIC database.

The database will be updated every year.
