The ‘Bundesdeutsche Arbeitskreis für umweltbewusstes Management’ (BAUM) is an initiative which aims to support its 450 members in doing business in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. The BAUM prize is an award for personal long term commitment.

Hans-Martin Rüter (41) received the prize last Friday in Berlin from the Mayor of Hamburg, Conergy’s home town, and BAUM-director Professor Maximilian Gege.
Rüter said: “This award makes me proud, since it doesn’t only acknowledge the economic success of our firm, but it underlines our global contribution to the protection of the environment. The conviction to do the right thing motivates each of our employees and it inspires them to perform exceptionally. Therefore, I dedicate this prize to them, without whose motivation and effort this success story wouldn’t exist.”
Conergy is one of the largest solar energy firms in Europe, which has also branched out more widely into other renewable energy fields such as geothermal energy, solar heat and wind energy. Originated in Hamburg, Conergy now has offices on all continents except for Africa.
