Commission postpones harmonisation steps until 2007

New dialogue on post-2012 climate policy targets

Following extensive discussions between almost all countries in the world, the Montreal conference of parties to the climate convention and the Kyoto Protocol had a rather positive ending. Countries will start a ‘Dialogue on long-term co-operative action’. Read moreimage

Extra money for support renewable energy in Ireland

Ireland announced €265m extra in the next five years for the support of renewable energy. The financial package will assist a large-scale deployment of renewable energy sources, mainly in the heat and transport sectors. Read moreimage

Parliament approves energy efficiency and services Directive

Last week the European Parliament has approved the Commission’s proposal for a Directive on energy efficiency and energy services. Now only the Council has to approve the proposal. Read moreimage

State support renewables in Austria restricted

The Austrian government has agreed with the opposition party SPÖ on a new law on renewable energy. Starting from 2006 an annual state support of €17m is available for new, additional plants. Read moreimage

UK reviews energy policy

The British Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced a wide-ranging review on energy policy in the United Kingdom. According to Blair energy supplies are under threat and all options need to be looked at, including renewables and nuclear power stations. Read moreimage

The Guarantee of Origin would serve best to monitor the renewable part in disclosure, but currently only two countries use GoOs for the monitoring of disclosure. RECS International calls upon governments to correct this and co-ordinate the use of the GoO for disclosure.
