Seven actions to stimulate biofuels

The publication of a new Communication on biofuels is foreseen this week. The new European Commission strategy for biofuels is expected to be based on seven ‘policy axes’. It is thought that the Commission will consider implementing a certificate-based system for biofuels.

Parliament wants binding targets for renewable heat

Resulting from a meeting two weeks ago, the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will propose binding targets for a Directive regarding heating and cooling from renewable sources. The Commission intends to publish such a Directive in 2006. Read moreimage

German verdict about priority in case of wind energy overload

Grid operators in Germany should give priority to kWhs from older wind turbines whenever they have to cut down on wind energy because of grid overload. TenneT biggest Dutch newcomer on GP Top 25 of large users

The GreenPrices Top 25 list of large users of green power has changed. From the 3 new companies that could have been added to the list, the Dutch power transport system operator TenneT takes first place on the Dutch list and fifth place on the international list with a green power use of 425 MWh per year. First results of white certs in Italy

At the end of January the AEEG (Italian Regulatory Authority for Electricity and Gas) published the first results of the Italian ‘White Certificates Scheme’, initiated in 2005 to obtain energy savings on the demand side. The 2006 targets for the scheme were also published.
