Record year for investments in renewable energy in 2005
2005 was a record year for global investments in renewable energy, with total investment in the sector up from US$ 30 billion in 2004 to US$ 38 billion, according to a report from REN21, the Renewable Energy Policy Network. Read

Alternative energy exchange index launched
Last week the German Exchange in Frankfurt has introduced the DAXglobal® Alternative Energy Index. The index tracks the performance of the world’s fifteen largest companies from five sectors: natural gas, wind, solar, ethanol and geothermal power/hybrid propulsion/batteries. Read

Solar thermal on the rise in EU
European consumers are more often turning to solar thermal for domestic hot water and space heating. In 2005, almost 1.4 GWth of solar thermal capacity (2 million m2 of collector area) was newly installed across the EU – 26% more than in 2004. Read

World’s largest solar system in Murcia
In September the realisation of the world’s largest solar PV-system will start. The 14 MW PV park will be fully operational in the second quarter of 2007. Read
