The decision to approve the windfarm followed a lengthy consultation process involving local councils, environmental agencies and members of the public. The wind farm will cost about 194 billion euros. The 62 turbines will generate enough green power to supply 80.000 homes and means a CO2-reduction of 280 kton.
For the construction of the farm Scottish Power encourages local firms to bid for construction work, involving around 120 jobs. A subsidiary of ScottishPower, CRE Energy, will construct and operate the windfarm, which will be commissioned in one year.
